It is only 25 minutes by car from Miami and it is surrounded by parks and beaches. Fort Lauderdale is an attractive residential area and offers countless free-time activities.

The Museum of Modern art is within walking distance of our English School in Fort Lauderdale and so is world-renowned Las Olas Boulevard, a shopping and restaurant heaven. There are facilities near the school for swimming, squash, tennis, football and water sports. Students from all over the world come to Fort Lauderdale to learn English and while studying at TLA you will meet with a fascinating international crowd and make new friends.

The weather

Florida has a sub-tropical climate, ideal for enjoying the beach almost every day of the year. December – May (winter) are the mildest months and January the coolest with an average temperature of 75F. June – November (summer) are the hottest months with an average temperature of 85F. Offices, restaurants and public places are air-conditioned, so make sure you pack a sweater or light jacket for indoors. Bring your beach attire and comfortable shoes for excursions.

Your first day at our English School in Fort Lauderdale

When you arrive at The Language Academy English School in Fort Lauderdale to Study English in Fort Lauderdale, a member of their staff will meet you and check your registration. Next you will be asked to take a placement test composed of a written and listening test. Then you will have an interview with the Director of Language Programs or a Senior Teacher. During this conversation your understanding of spoken English will be assessed.

Level placement is based on the combined results of these two tests. During the first day, their staff will introduce you to the school, the local amenities and life in Fort Lauderdale.

The courses

Their classes at our English School in Fort Lauderdale are small and carefully graded. There is a maximum of 14 students in a General English class, this rule applies to all daily courses while students Study English in Fort Lauderdale. All courses are multinational and English is always the means of communication with the teachers and with other students. Executive courses and GE Platinum are limited to 5 students per group.

Home-Stay: You can stay with an American host in order to practice your English during your free-time and week-ends. Apartments: These are located within easy reach of The Language Academy and single occupancy. The Language Academy does not arrange roommates for shared apartment. These self-catering units feature totally equipped kitchen facilities for your convenience.

Social Program

The School plans a weekly program of varied activities providing an opportunity to have fun, practice your English and meet American people. At weekends there are excursions to beautiful places such as the Bahamas, Key West, Cape Kennedy and Disney World. They organize evening activities featuring visits to restaurants, pubs, theaters and cinemas. • Levels: elementary (A1 level*), intermediate 1(A2 level*), intermediate 2 (B1 level*), advanced (B2 level*),proficiency (C1 & C2 level*) in the Common European Framework of Reference for languages. TLA also offers courses to absolute beginners but they must take private lessons first.
