Our school location

Embassy Boston Downtown is located in the heart of Boston in the downtown crossing area and steps from the Boston Common.

It is just a few minutes’ walk from Macy’s, Quincy Market, the public garden and is in a vibrant area packed with restaurants and shops, including the famous Brattle Bookshop.

There are also many opportunities to join in with the full program of excursions and activities available exclusively to Embassy students.

You’ll be close to the Atlantic Coast beaches, ski resorts of New Hampshire, and historic local towns such as Salem and Newburyport.

Course information and details

The Certificate of English is our most popular course; promising all-round improvement in every area of general English.

It’s available in every Embassy school worldwide. You can join on any Monday and following our entrance test, you’ll be placed into a class with other students at your level.

Study for as long or as short as you like, from two weeks upwards.

Classes can be in the morning and/or afternoon. Students can choose from our standard version of 20 lessons per week or an intensive version of 28 lessons per week.

The intensive course includes 20 lessons on General English plus 8 electives of your choice.



A great option for students who would like more independence, and a chance to socialize with friends from around the world.

In Boston, our primary student residence is the Bayside Doubletree Hotel, located just a 20-minute subway ride from the school.

The hotel contains a cafe, free gym facilities and business center, and there are also numerous cafes, restaurants and shops nearby.

All rooms are shared, with a full bathroom en-suite. Each contains two double beds, a desk, telephone, refrigerator, coffee/tea maker, and cable TV.

Housekeeping services are provided on a weekly basis. Wi-Fi access is provided in the lobby, and in all public areas of the hotel.


Live as part of an English-speaking household.

You’ll have your own bedroom, and eat breakfast and evening meals with your hosts.

It’s a great chance to meet native Bostonians and share their way of life.

Living with English-speakers also means that you will never stop learning and improving your fluency.

In Boston Downtown, our homestay households are all within 60 minutes’ travel from the school. Homes are likely to be the typical New England style.
