“English in Africa” is a newly opened English school in Hout Bay, Cape Town. The language school is located in a leafy suburb of Cape Town boasting one of the finest beaches in the country. This is making “English in Africa Language School” the ideal destination to study English abroad.

Our English school has the ambition to become the first environmentally friendly language school of its kind in Africa. Our vision is to become a completely CO2 neutral business with 0 percent non recycled waste. We cooperate with local environmentally friendly organizations and offer our students information and lectures on nature conservation and green living alternatives.

The English in Africa Language School
English in Africa is the perfect spot for you to learn English and meet people from all over the world. The language school is located on a beautiful piece of land in Hout Bay just outside Cape Town. African fusion style architecture and hundred year old buildings will inspire you throughout your English course.
We want to make sure that you feel at home while you’re our guest at the language school, so we offer a kitchen facility with free coffee and tea and the possibility to have snacks and refreshments, a dining/sitting lounge with a beautiful fireplace (in South Africa it we call it a Braai).
There is a free Wi-Fi internet connection for all students of the language school, so you are welcome to bring your own laptop. If you don’t have a computer with you, there are student computers in the common area for you to use.
The classrooms are all located in Cape cottage style building buildings, very spacious, yet very cozy. We have only up to 10 people in a classroom, which ensures that each student can be attended to individually and still have plenty of opportunities for teamwork and multi cultural interactions. Our students come from all over the World, mainly Germany, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Korea, Angola and China. Off course, there is a multitude of other nationalities from all over Europe and other parts of the World, offering a good mix of different people in the classrooms.
As you get to know all the different cultures and nationalities, this literally opens the door to the world for you, and you’ll make a lot of friends for life. The school grounds offer large off street parking space, huge lawns for you to enjoy your breaks on, or shady garden sitting where you can relax and chat with your classmates.
English Course in Cape Town
Courses start every Monday at 9am. Your first day will start at 8:30, we’ll assess and rank you and we’ll place you to the level most suitable for you. Duration per lesson is 50 minutes then there’s a 10 minutes break. There is max. of 10 students in a classroom plus a teacher.
Standard English Course
This English Course includes 20 lessons of general English classes per week = 4 lessons (2 lessons of grammar + 2 lessons reading/writing) every day from Monday till Friday from 9:00 – 12:50
Intensive English Course
30 lessons divided in 20 lessons of general English + 10 lessons of discussion group class per a week = 4 lessons (2 lessons of grammar + 2 lessons reading/writing) + 2 lessons of conversation class every day from Monday till Friday from 9:00 – 15:oo
Accommodation in Cape Town
The school residence**
The School Residence in Hout Bay is conveniently situated close to the beach and all the shops and restaurants. For your convenience, there is a kitchen with all kitchen facilities, dining area and TV area. The Residence offers the possibility to share the room with one of our students or with one of a volunteer workers ( from organization we cooperate with), or a single occupancy – subject to availability, prices for the School Residence are meals included.
If you decide to stay at Sea Point residence you’ll share your experience with students from others language schools. You’ll be near the jogging, walking, rollerblading at the seafront promenade. Amenities are close by – the busy main road provides restaurants, take-away outlets, shops, nightclubs and pubs. For your convenience, there is a kitchen with all kitchen facilities, dining area and TV area.
We also offer a Home-stay program, which is our recommended option. This is the best way to get to know South Africa and South Africans better and also it is very good for practicing and improving your language skills. Our carefully chosen host families provide rooms, breakfast and dinners (subject to availability/ upon request). The host families are usually couples that live close to the school. The Home stay program offers you an unforgettable experience.
