Situated in Scotland’s beautiful North-east, International House (IH) Aberdeen specializes in a team of highly qualified teachers with experience in teaching all nationalities from beginners to advanced. Our flexible timetable allows students to combine General English with other programmes, such as IELTS, Communication Skills, English for Business or English for the Energy Industries.

Location

Within just 30 minutes of Aberdeen city centre, you can reach the breathtaking landscapes Scotland is famous for: Rolling hills, stunning mountain peaks, beautiful wildlife, dramatic coastlines and ancient castles are all within easy reach. As such, Aberdeen is a great base for all outdoor sports, such as golf, hill-walking, mountain biking and kite-surfing on our fabulous beaches.
Aberdeen is easy to get to: just over 2 hours by train from Edinburgh and many daily direct flights to London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Paris CDG, and Copenhagen.

English Courses in Aberdeen
General English Course:
These 3-hour classes are held every morning. They offer classes from Elementary to Advanced levels. In addition to increasing vocabulary and improving grammar, students practice speaking, listening, reading and writing. They place great importance on pronunciation.

- Monday to Friday, 9:30 am to 12:45 pm

Intensive English Course:
This course includes 15 hours General English + 6 hours extra classes in afternoons. The 6 additional hours can be: IELTS, FCE or Natural English. Natural English are communication classes with interesting topics relevant to life in the UK. Recommended for anyone who needs to improve their communication skills (both speaking and writing) and extend their vocabulary.

Social Programme:
We do something different every week, with social events at lunchtime, after school and at the weekend. Many of the trips we organize are free, and the places we go are often within walking distance of the school.
The places we go and things we do include:
- Trips to some of Scotland’s famous castles
- Walking tours (both in the city and the gorgeous Scottish countryside)
- Whiskey distilleries: see how Scotland’s favorite drink is made – and taste it!
- Ceilidhs (pronounced ‘kei-lees): traditional Scottish country dance parties: fantastic fun and a great way to keep warm in the winter!
- International food parties, where you can try home cooking from around the world.
- Live music concerts (modern and classical)
- Museums and galleries
- Pub nights
- Sporting activities such as ice shaking, bowling, and golf lessons
Accommodation
Homestay*
We can offer full time students the chance to live with a local family. It’s a great way for you to improve your English and get to know the Scottish way of life. We offer the complete ‘home from home’ experience – dinner, bed & breakfast or self-catering/bed & breakfast with a local family.
We have selected all our local families personally to make sure that you will feel safe, welcome and happy in Aberdeen. All families are different. Some are families with children, some are couples or single people. We will always try to match the best family to the students’ needs.
For the homestay option, price includes:

Student Residence**
The student residences are situated in the historic heart of Aberdeen. Their residences have single rooms arranged in shared flats of 4 or 6 bed flats. This is a great option for students who want to live in a student-friendly environment whilst living independently.
