Liden & Denz is the oldest private Russian language institute in the country that was established in 1992. We have a worldwide reputation as a first class training facility for the teaching of Russian. Our centres are proud to have taught Russian to students from practically all over the world – in 2010, we had students of more than 45 nationalities.

St. Petersburg is the imperial capital and Unesco World Heritage site. Our School in St. Petersburg has a fantastic location off Nevsky Prospekt between Russian Museum, the Mikhailovsky Zamok (built by Pavel I, son of Catherine the Great), the circus and near two very nice parks.

The area offers some of the finest examples of St. Petersburg architecture and is close to Fontanka and Neva rivers. The closest metro station (Nevsky Prospect/Gostiny Dvor) is a five minute walk away. A wide range of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops are available within walking distance.

Facilities

The school is located on the second floor of a historic 19th century building and features 13 spacious, bright and well equipped classrooms (wall-mounted TV/DVD sets), which are all suitable for group or mini-group classes.

Free WiFi, a self-access center and a small refectory are at the disposal of our students. The school further operates a booking desk for excursions, theatre tickets and onward travel.

Accreditation

Our centres are regularly inspected by international accreditation bodies. Both centres are members of IALC (International Association of Language Centres; www.ialc.org) and full members of EAQUALS (European Association for Quality Language Services; www.eaquals.org). Our centres are licensed by local governments as private language schools teaching Russian as a foreign language. Our courses are recognized by Bildingsurlaub (Germany) and CSN partners (Sweden).

Russian Courses in St. Petersburg

Our Language Centre mainly specializes in short-term courses, group or individual. The minimum length of a group course (20 or 25 lessons per week) is two weeks and of an individual (15, 20, 30 or 40 lessons per week) – one week. However, course length is not restricted.

General Russian Course:

• 20 lessons per week
• 50-minute lessons

Intensive Russian Course:

• 25 lessons per week

• Up to a maximum of 12 participants

We also offer Academic Year Courses that have fixed duration (24, 36 or 48 weeks), special starting dates and reduced prices. These courses are organized in 2 degrees of intensity – 20 and 25 lessons per week in groups with maximum 12 participants. Liden & Denz are official preparation centres for the state exam of Russian as a Foreign Language (TRKI or TORFL).

Starting from 2011, we offer Language Plus mini-group modules on Business Russian, Music, and Literature. These modules can be taken year round on official Group Courses starting dates. They can be booked only in addition to any Group or One-to-One course and consist of 5 lessons held in the afternoons.

Liden & Denz is one of the first organizations to offer meaningful study and work programmes in Russia. Our aim is to give students a unique insight into the Russian daily life of our times. Although the assignments we offer are all supervised by Liden & Denz, the experience inside our host organizations will be very authentic.

Work experience students need a sufficient level of Russian in order to qualify for one of the places on offer. The entry level (language competence on arrival) should be at least A2. We further require a minimum of four weeks in a standard group course (or three weeks one-to-one) in one of our centres prior to the start of the work assignment.

Accommodation in St. Petersburg

For our students we usually organize homestay, which is considered to be the most popular type of accommodation. We offer two packages for this type of accommodation: breakfast only and half board (breakfast and dinner + full board on weekends)*. We also offer shared flats(single room/no board)**, hotels at attractive prices in all categories or help rent an apartment according to your requirements.
