AE107 General English – 20 hours per week
 
Description:

The above courses begin with an initial interview, test and needs analysis and students are classed according to resulting level. Clients will learn all the essential areas of language & grammar through task-based methodology. While the communicative approach is central we always consider the individual learning style of our students. All four language skills are given the appropriate class time through the application of our academic syllabus. While this provides continuity and structure there is also a certain element of flexibility, again with the view of meeting the particular needs of the student. Each course is concluded with a student performance review.

Course Includes:

  • 20 Lessons per week (Lessons = 60 minutes)
  • Average 6 – 8 pupils per class (maximum 10)
  • Certificate at end of Course
  • Individual student report
  • Afternoon Social and Cultural Program
  • Evening Social Program
  • Transfers to and from Cork Airport (If host family accommodation arranged)
  • Dates: Every Monday throughout the year
  • Levels: 6 Levels – (Beginners to Advanced).
  • Age Group: 17 +

AE107B Intensive General English – 28 hours per week

Description:

The above courses begin with an initial interview, test and needs analysis and students are classed according to resulting level. As above for the morning class. The additional 8 hours in the afternoon are devoted to speaking, where students wishing to focus on improving their oral fluency can discuss and debate a wide variety of topics whilst being facilitated, motivated and corrected by an experienced teacher. It also gives the student the opportunity to further build on their vocabulary and put into practice what has been learned in the morning class.

Course Includes:

  • 28 Lessons per week (Lesson = 60 minutes)
  • Average 6 – 8 pupils per class (maximum 10)

Accommodation in Cork

Homestay Accommodation*

This type of accommodation is arranged on a half-board basis from Monday to Friday with breakfast and an evening meal and on a full-board basis during the weekend. All of our families have been hand selected and visited by our representative. Homes are selected on the basis of a friendly atmosphere, good food and clean comfortable surroundings. Houses are located in good residential areas. Only one student of the same mother tongue is placed with each family.

Residential Accommodation**

The self-catering apartments offer an excellent opportunity for the students to practice their English with students of different nationalities. The apartments are located only 15 minutes from the school by bus. There are normally 5 or 6 students in each apartment. The bed linen can be hired but students must provide their own towels.

  • Accommodation is at students’ disposal from the Sunday before beginning of course until the Saturday morning following end of course.
  • Not included: airfare
