First day for new students at ILAC Vancouver, October 2012.A growing number of international students are looking to gain professional work experience while studying English in Canada.
ILAC’s Study & Work Program offers internship placements in a variety of different fields in combination with specialized English language courses.
In 2012, ILAC placed 110 international students in Professional Internships related to Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, IT, Design and Engineering.
Professional Internships allow students to gain practical language and work experience in their field of interest.
Hospitality Internship placements are paid and offer positions in the food and beverage industry, allowing students to apply their English skills in real-life situations.
This year 51 ILAC students were placed in jobs in restaurants, cafes and retail stores.
“We believe that Canada’s economy is very healthy and we are more confident than ever that we can place students in great positions,” says Arda Aridasir, Internship Director at ILAC.
In preparation for their internships, ILAC students receive focused English language instruction on topics related to Canadian culture and business. Each work placement is 50% or less of the total program length.
