St Brelade’s College was established in 1978 by Donald Brown with the aim of providing quality English courses in the beautiful and safe surroundings of Jersey.

The school is now run by his son, Sid Brown who continues his father’s work; providing a professional service and a welcoming atmosphere for students.

Information about our school location

The school is located on the island of Jersey, in the Channel Islands, between southern England and France.

This small island boasts stunning scenery, including miles of golden sandy beaches and lush countryside, as well as a rich history, seen from the castles, Neolithic burial sites and Napoleonic fortresses.

Just a short walk from the school is the harbour village, St Aubin, which is a great location for eating out.

You can find a variation of cuisines here, as well as Jersey’s culinary seafood delights! The main town, St Helier is also only a short distance away and is full of high quality shops and restaurants.

Course options for students

Our adult & teenager courses comprise lessons in the morning and additional lessons on some afternoons for the more intensive courses.

All courses include an afternoon and evening activity & social programme.

Adult English courses

Standard & Intensive courses

  • Standard course – lessons per week: 20 lessons (45 minutes each)
  • Intensive course – lessons per week: 30 lessons (45 minutes each)
  • Maximum class size: 9 students
  • Minimum level: Elementary

Private tuition

  • Lessons per week: 20 or 30 lessons (45 minutes each)
  • Maximum class size: 1 student
  • Minimum level: Beginner

Business English course

  • Lessons per week: 20 general English lessons (45 minutes each), 10 business English lessons
  • Maximum class size: 9 students for general English, 6 students for business English
  • Minimum level: Intermediate

Combination English course

  • Lessons per week:

20 group plus 10 one-to-one lessons or

10 group plus 20 one-to-one lessons (45 minutes each)

  • Maximum class size: 9 students for group lessons and 1 student for private tuition
  • Minimum level: Elementary

50 Plus English course

  • Lessons per week: 20 lessons (45 minutesper lesson)
  • Maximum class size: 9 students
  • Courses dates: 4th-16th May 2015, 18th-30th May 2015, 7th-19th September 2015, 21st September – 3rd October 2015
  • Minimum level: Elementary
  • Minimum age: 50 years

English plus golf course

  • Lessons per week:

Students can choose their English course and combine with standard or intensive golf with an English teacher or PGA professional

  • Maximum class size: 9 students for English classes, up to 3 students for golf with English teacher, one-to-one golf lessons with PGA
  • Minimum level: Elementary

Cambridge English course

  • Lessons per week: 20 or 30 lessons (45 minutes each)
  • Maximum class size: 9 students
  • Courses dates: March 16th & 30th 2015, September 7th & 21st 2015

for 10 or 12 weeks

  • Minimum level: Intermediate

Teenager English courses

  • Holiday course – lessons per week: 20 lessons (45 minutes each from 9:00 – 12:30 every day)
  • Intensive course – lessons per week: 30 lessons (45 minutes each from 9:00 – 12:30 every day, 13:30 – 16:00 on 3 afternoons)
  • Maximum class size: 14 students
  • Course dates: 9th – 27th February 2015, 30th March – 1st May 2015, 25th May – 11th September 2015, 28th September – 30th October 2015
  • Age range: 10-18 years
  • Afternoon & evening activity programme – a choice of up to 8 daily activities, as well as 4 evening activities during the summer
