Loxdale English Centre, est. 1968, is a not-for-profit educational trust.

We like to make sure that our students are inspired and help to motivate their learning through providing courses which include more than just English.  We are small friendly school which aims to support our students to achieve their best and gain in self confidence.

We have designed our adult courses so that our students have an element of input in the syllabus and get a choice of topic areas in their course.facebook

Within the adult course programmes Loxdale English Centre uses a range of different learning styles including lessons, skills lessons, lectures and tutorials.  Also each student has a lesson about ‘Britain Today’.

During summers we also run fun and well supervised fully inclusive English course programmes for children aged 7 to 17 years.  Young learners have also study British culture and traditions within their summer course.

Portslade has two distinct shopping areas, one near the train station  (10 minute walk) and the other in the Old Village (2 minute walk from school).  Brighton & Hove is a vibrant and fun city with lots to see and do.  Come and see why it is called ‘London by sea’.

Our most popular adult course is the English Plus course.  You have the opportunity of studying not only English but other subjects in English.  You can choose from photography, British culture, history, literature, art, gardening, exam preparation, singing and more.  A great opportunity to try something new.

For adults we also offer General English courses, English & Art and English for 40+ courses.

During summers we run courses for students aged 7 to 11 and 12 to 17 years.  7 to 11 year olds either live with their parents or in our residential centre where they are cared for 24 hours a day.

They have a wonderful mix of informative lessons, fun activities such as cooking, sports, music and interesting weekend trips.  In the evenings, students are taken home by minibus if they live more than a 10 minute walk away so that they are well looked after and safe.

Our students are housed with our wonderful host families.  Loxdale  English Centre has been in this area since 1979 so we have built up a good relationship and reputation with our hosts.  Our Accommodation Manager carefully selects the most appropriate host family for you.  All hosts live between 2 and 25 minutes walk away.  Students can choose from:
