SCHOOL  FACILITIES

  • Library

We have a wide range of English fiction and non-fiction books, the latest newspapers and magazines, coursebooks, and language reference titles in the CESC library, and we are constantly updating. There are also readers, organized by level. Students are free to use the library at any time during the school’s opening hours. They can use reference titles in school and can take books home with them for study purposes.

  • Self-Access Center

Our self-access center at the back of the main building offers a quiet environment for self study. The center is equipped with audio player-recorders, which students can use either to improve their English pronunciation, or to listen to the tapes and CDs which accompany readers. The self-access center is open for students to use during school hours.

  • Computers & Wi-Fi

CESC has two computer rooms and 30 computers with learning software, Office, and communications software (Yahoo, MSN, etc). The computers have headphones and microphones, and are connected to a printer / scanner, which students can use free of charge. Many computers have fonts installed for other languages (Japanese, Chinese, etc). The school and garden area are Wi-Fi hotspots; students with laptops can connect to our wireless network free of charge.

We never place students of the same nationality in a homestay unless asked. Many of our host families live less than 5 km from the school and most bus services from homestays to the school are direct. We can take into account the special needs of diabetic and vegetarian students, if we are given notice. Please let us know if you have any medical problems.

The residence is in the beautiful Lexden area of Colchester, which is only a few minutes’ walk from Colchester town centre. The house has a large garden with a smoking area, and a common lounge, dining area and kitchen. There are four bathrooms.
