Bucksmore summer programmesBucksmore has been running high-quality summer schools for individual junior students since 1979. In 2011 Bucksmore welcomed students from over 40 different countries.

In 2012 Bucksmore will be running 11 fantastic programmes across 8 amazing locations around the UK. We have courses for students covering all ages, English levels and interests.

Locations & Programs

Corpus Christi College – Cambridge University

Bucksmore Young Leaders – An intensive leadership course for mature teenagers looking for more than a typical summer school. Students are taught teamwork, public speaking, negotiation skills, debating, and Business English while networking in an international environment.

World University Preparation (UK) – A 2-week introduction to UK universities which gives international students the best possible chance of gaining a place at a leading university. Students develop skills for interviews and writing personal statements as well as receiving special tuition in selected subjects.

Corpus Christi is the 6th oldest Cambridge University College and all classrooms are in Old Court, the oldest courtyard in the university. This stunning college is in the very centre of Cambridge.

Fitzwilliam College – Cambridge University

Bucksmore Choice – A visual and performing arts course for older teenagers. Students receive English tuition as well as choosing weekly Electives: Dance, Drama, Photography, Film Production or Art. The Electives will be studied with teenagers from a local Cambridge private school.

Fitzwilliam College is 10 minute walk from the city centre in the grounds of ‘The Grove’ – a large Regency era house where Charles Darwin’s wife once lived.

Churchill College – Cambridge University

Bucksmore Cambridge – An intensive English Language summer school for 14-17 year olds in the city of Cambridge. A full activity programme includes ‘Freestyle Afternoon’ allowing students to explore Cambridge with their friends.

Churchill is one of the newest Cambridge University colleges and has excellent facilities including the largest grounds of any college. It is 100 metres from Fitzwilliam and a short walk from the centre.

St Hilda’s College – Oxford University

Bucksmore Oxford – The sister programme to Bucksmore Cambridge, but set in the equally beautiful city of Oxford.

St Hilda’s is a riverside college 10 minutes’ walk from the High Street and next to Magdalen Bridge. It is part of the famous ‘dreaming spires’ which make Oxford such an inspiring place to study.

Plumpton College

Bucksmore Summer – Bucksmore’s classic summer school for younger teenagers, perfected over 33 years. A comprehensive academic programme of 20 hours of English is combined with a full activity programme including 2 full day and 2 half day excursions.

Bucky Adventure – For students who want more adventure in their summer. Students study English with Bucksmore Summer students before exciting ‘adventure activities’ in the afternoon including: sailing, mountain biking, horse riding, raft-building, kayaking and a Survival Night in the countryside!

Plumpton is a beautiful country school at the bottom of the South Down Hills. It has huge grounds, including: riding stables, an Animal Care Centre, a working farm and large sports pitches.

King Edward’s School

Bucksmore Summer – the sister programme to Bucksmore Summer at Plumpton.

Bucky Kids – A course specially designed for very young students aged 7-10. This is perfect for students who have never been to a summer school before. Days are divided into language themes including: Princesses and Monsters; Pirates and Smugglers; and Magic and Magicians.

King Edward’s is a classic English boarding school in the south of England. It has great facilities including an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a large theatre.

Culford School

Bucksmore Sport – Perfect for any student mad about sport during the 2012 London Olympics. Students will receive a mix of professional coaching and supervision in both team and individual sports. They will also get the chance to learn about classic English sporting events: Wimbledon, the Boat Race and the Grand National!

Culford is a beautiful boarding school founded in 1881. Its 480 acres includes 16 tennis courts, a state-of-the-art sports complex, indoor swimming pool, golf course and large playing fields, making it the ideal location for a sports programme.

Bucksmore Three Capitals

A two-week academic tour of the UK, including the capitals of England, Scotland and Wales. As well as visiting attractions impossible to see on standard summer programmes, students will also receive a full academic programme.

Students will stay in a variety of locations across the UK in London; York; Edinburgh; the Lake District; and Cardiff. Accommodation varies at each location and a private bus will take the students between the cities.
