Bournemouth Business School International (BBSI) was founded in 1992 and is a highly accredited specialised English language school. BBSI aims to provide high-quality and effective academic, business and professional training to international students and professionals.

BBSI is open throughout the year and strives to deliver an innovative and rewarding UK learning experience for international students who are seeking to develop either their academic or professional knowledge in the medium of English.

Trainees are encouraged to take responsibility for their own development and self-motivation is high, which engenders rapid progress in professional skills and the acquisition of accurate and fluent communication skills. Supplementary to their studies, students can participate in their free time in our varied social and activity programme, or involve themselves in the comprehensive selection of leisure and sporting activities available in Bournemouth both during the day and in the evenings.This programme offers students the opportunity to make new friends, practice their English and increase their knowledge and awareness of UK culture.

English Language Courses. BBSI English language courses offer a range of choices within general English, academic English and business English courses at different language levels. Training focuses on developing all four language skills – speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as gaining confidence in the use of grammar and building vocabulary. Students can also study for and undertake the IELTS examination as well as various Cambridge ESOL examinations.

Assessment & Grading.To assess students´ academic progress accurately and fairly, BBSI employs a system of continuous assessment that has been developed as a rigorous alternative to a formal examination system, and is designed both to support study and to contribute to the motivation of students. Assignments are set regularly to assess students’ progress and achievements.

These assignments may be in the form of written essays, reports, or case studies, progress tests, research and analysis projects, preparation and delivery of presentations, business simulations, or portfolio work. To ensure grading is consistent and fair, careful guidelines are followed and double marking is standard procedure to meet BBSI and NCFE quality management requirements.

BBSI holds a number of different accreditations and memberships. The school is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English, and by NCFE for the teaching of professional or specialised courses, including university foundation courses and pre-Masters´ courses. Additionally it is accredited by the Chartered Management Institute for the teaching of management.BBSI holds ISO 9001 Quality Management certification.

It is a member of English UK and the prestigious International Association of Language Centres (IALC). BBSI is a Registered Centre for the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations Board for the conduct of the BEC, ICFE and ILEC examinations. Finally, all BBSI foundation programmes are recognised by Bournemouth University.

The school has an exceptional choice of courses to suit all adults. The minimum age is 16 for general English and 17 for specialised courses. Accommodation

While you study at BBSI, it is important that you are comfortable in your domestic environment and that you mix with as many native-speakers of English as possible and absorb the local culture in your everyday activities.BBSI therefore offers various accommodation options to suit your personal requirements, including homestay, hotel and guest house accommodation and residential facilities.

Homestay Accommodation*

BBSI provides both standard and executive-style homestays.BBSI homestay accommodation includes a comfortable single study/bedroom and is available on part-board basis (breakfast and evening meal Monday-Friday, with full-board facilities (all meals) at weekends); on a bed and breakfast basis; or on a self-catering basis.Families are located close to the School and are inspected regularly to ensure that high standards of accommodation and care are continually met and maintained.

Residential Accommodation**

BBSI organizes residential accommodation on a self-catering, room only, or a bed and breakfast basis.Fees will vary according to location and room type.Our main residence, The Outlook, is a university-style, self-catering residence situated only 2 minutes from the School. Each single or double room has its own shower room and fridge, while kitchens and lounges are shared.

Bed & Breakfast style residences are situated in comfortable hotels 10 minutes walking distance from the school.Details of all residences are available in download form on the BBSI website.

• Accommodation is at students’ disposal from the Sunday before beginning of course until the Saturday morning following end of course.
